Cluster News02-10-2006: Added 64 new Dual Dual Xeon EM64T nodes to the cluster. These systems have 4 cpus 6GB of ram. System are currently in queue testing phase. New queues are being developed and will be deployed in the next week. Once testing has been completed on the queue systems then all current and new users will be migrated to using these new queues. 11-14-2005: Added two new software resources to the cluster. They are amber 7 and GROMAC 3.3. These two pieces of software are geared toward molecular dynamics research. More information can be found on the software resource page. 11-04-2005: Upgraded PBSPro to newest version of software. 11-03-2005: Upgraded MPICH to newest release. Old version of MPICH can still be found in /bio/tools/mpich/. Current version is MPICH2-1.0.2 and can be found in /bio/tools/mpich/mpich2-1.0.2-PGI-6.0/. If you have any problems please contact biohelp@ittc.ku.edu 09-06-2005: Starting today all queue's require the use of access control lists. To use this feature you must add the following line to your PBS submit script. 08-04-2005: Fusion needed to be rebooted today. All jobs will have to be restarted. 07-27-2005: compute-0-11 is back up and operational. 07-27-2005: compute-0-11 is down. Please change any configurations files or scripts that use that machine. 07-12-2005: Constructing Gene Networks from Microarray Data for Age-Dependent Epiliptogenesis. 07-12-2005: Installed new software packages. 06-22-2005: Implemented new password policy on cluster. 05-31-2005: Install biojava and bioperl. 05-20-2005: Installed the following pieces of software for PISE, a tool to generate Web interfaces for Molecular Biology programs: 05-13-2005: Installed program suite R 05-09-2005: Rewrote qsub wrapper to run more efficiently. It is now two programs called prologue and epilogue. This gives more controll to PBSPro and allows it to boot (start) the deamons on the nodes being allocated to the job. 04-29-2005: Created qsub wrapper for PBSPro, this allows PBSPro and MPICH2 to work together. The MPICH2 deamons need to be running as a user for PBS to run the job properly. 04-21-2005: Installed never version of PGI (Portland Group Compiler). Recompiled MPICH2 with this new version, and updated paths to use new compiler and MPICH2. 04-20-2005: Added user accounts for Terry Clark's parallel computing class. Using class as a shack down for the cluster, looking for weaknesses in queueing, software and hardware. 04-19-2005: Brought main file server online. Migrated all users and datat to new file server. Home directories are now found in /bio/users. 04-07-2005: Installed PBSPro (Portable Patch System). Setup and tested an interactive queue. Queue's are static and have specific machines attached to them. 04-07-2005: Installed PGI 5.2(Portland Group Compilers). Recompiled MPICH2 to include this version of the compiler. 04-06-2005: Installed the following bioinformatics software packages: 04-05-2005: Installed MPICH2, based on the new MPI2 standard. 04-01-2005: Began burning process, using HPL (High Performance LINPACK). 03-25-2005: Cluster brought online!! Begining installation of nodes and testing process. |
